An introduction to Bengali cuisine

Two days after we've conducted our first expert elicitation workshop in Bhubaneswar and got a delectable introduction to Orissa cuisine, we flew to Kolkata (the capital of the state of West Bengal) for our second expert elicitation workshop. The owners of the restaurant Bhojohori Manna most graciously invited us to have dinner in their restaurant at the Diamond Plaza... a perfect introduction to Bengali cuisine.

Once again, a wonderful selection of dishes. I absolutely enjoyed eating here! The food was delicious and the flavours were somewhat familiar. Perhaps, this was because Indian cuisine was no longer foreign to me; or perhaps there were flavour combinations that were familiar, thanks to the influence of migration in the region. There's also an increased play on salty and sour, sweet and chilli.

NB: The only food item I had to beg off from was the prawn cooked in coconut because of seafood allergies.
