The beginnings of DNA extraction

Dara had just chopped rice leaves and was putting liquid nitrogen onto them. To protect herself from the extreme cold, she wore thick gloves. Ideally, face protection should also be worn when handling liquid nitrogen, to avoid burns in case it does splatter on one's face (that's according to the UQ occupation health and safety group).

With that said, is it really safe to eat ice cream and popcorn previously submerged in liquid nitrogen, as featured on television?
