Hello, 2018!

For New Year's Eve, the family reunion was at Ate Gigi's house. By this time, I've been cooped up at home for about a week, thanks to a pesky cold and a sore throat. Mommy and Daddy were sick as well. We weren't sure if we could join the festivities because we might make the rest of the family sick, but Ate Gigi assured us that the family was sick too.

Anna and Biboy had stronger immune systems, methinks.

Anyway, we trooped to the Alinaya house and were welcomed by a house riddled in sparkly lights, like glitter! Like Tita Babie's house, it looked warm and cozy, particularly because it's a very cold evening.

Inside, everyone was having dinner and watching the Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, with the audience on Times Square standing in the open, exposed to the cold New York evening. We also exchanged stories about family back home (most of the updates were based on Facebook posts, so I naturally haven't been up to date).

As midnight neared, Ate Gigi handed party hats and noisemaking hornpipes to everyone. Well, we didn't have firecrackers (and my lungs are thankful for that) so there's not much of a choice. And as the clocked struck 12mn, we started jumping (as per tradition) in the hopes of getting taller.

It's the first time, in a long time, that my family is complete during the New Year celebration. A sign of good times ahead. 2018 is going to be a good and successful year, I know it.
