#UNLEASHLAB2017 x Meyers Madhus collab

The UNLEASH talents who were in other themes where told to stay inside the Lokomotivværkstedet. The Food theme participants, however, were herded to the outdoors. Great, we were going to do something fun!

Once outside the building, we were asked to form teams. I ended up with this ragtag group, which has members who have infectious energy and enthusiasm... even as we were faced with the Meyers Madhus challenge of preparing ready-to-eat food for the future using ingredients and equipment made available for us.

Meyers Madhus is a venue in which food lovers have the opportunity to learn about cuisines from different parts of the world and to explore Nordic cuisine. In our case, Meyers Madhus got us to think about creating something using the secret ingredient: grub (aka larvae, worms). I began looking around for Timon and Pumbaa; the might get out of the woodwork, singing hakuna matata.

None of my teammates who volunteered to do mise-en-place knew how (or wanted) to chop vegetables. So I ended up doing most of the chopping. I thank my experience at ISCAHM for putting me in a position in which I was comfortable with cooking outdoors.

The product that my team presented was delicious! It's being pitched as "Buffalo Wild Worms" and our marketing campaign included the product's contributions to the UN SDGs. The team from Meyers Madhus judged our product based on taste, alignment with the SDGs, and the marketing pitch.

We didn't win the grub case challenge; a different team had a better product with a better marketing campaign. But this challenge gave us an idea about the activity that we were going to undergo throughout the rest of UNLEASH program, in the innovations lab. It looks like a challenging week ahead!
